For Sunday’s “The Ethics of Progress” gig at the Junction in Cambridge I’ll be joined by the wonderful Dr Ivette Fuentes, a former student of Vlatko’s who we made the show with.
Ivette Fuentes is a Lecturer at the University of Nottingham. She obtained her PhD in 2003 from Imperial College working on quantum information. In this field scientists try to understand how to use quantum systems such as atoms to send messages (teleportation) and process information (quantum computation). Her postdoctoral experience includes fellowships at the Perimeter in Canada and University of Oxford. Ivette has worked on a number of topics within theoretical physics, such as fundamental quantum mechanics, quantum information, quantum optics, gravity and astrophysics. Currently, she studies how to teleport information while moving at relativistic speeds in spacetime. Its the closest it gets to Star Trek!
Ivette will be on stage with me after the show to answer any questions on her specialist subject.
Hope you can make it.
